By accessing or using Instant Food Score (the “App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the “Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
The App lets you scan the barcode of packaged food products and displays a health score, traffic-light rating, and ingredient information. Scores are calculated automatically on your device from ingredient and nutrition data provided by the Open Food Facts database. The App does not require you to create an account.
The App and the information it displays are provided for general informational purposes only and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Health scores are estimates based on publicly available data and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always read the complete product label before purchasing or consuming any food, and consult a qualified healthcare professional about your diet, allergies, or any medical condition.
Product information is obtained from Open Food Facts, a collaborative, free and open database. The Open Food Facts database is available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0, its individual contents under the Database Contents License (DbCL) 1.0, and product images under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license. We attribute Open Food Facts and link to openfoodfacts.org in the App. You may re-use product data or images obtained through the App only as permitted by these licenses.
The App does not create accounts and does not collect or store any personal information on our servers. Your scan history, health profile (including allergies and dietary preferences you set), and app preferences are stored only in your browser’s local storage on your device. You can delete this data at any time by clearing your scan history or clearing the App’s site data.
You agree not to use the App to: (a) engage in any unlawful activity; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or network; (c) scrape or bulk-extract data from the App or the Open Food Facts API beyond ordinary use; or (d) interfere with or disrupt the App or its underlying services.
The App relies on third-party services, including the Open Food Facts API, Open Food Facts image hosting, and your device’s camera. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of these third-party services.
The App’s software, design, text, graphics, logos, and branding are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Health scores shown in the App are produced by our own algorithm.
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and without warranty of the accuracy or completeness of any information displayed. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we, our affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the App. Because scores are estimates based on third-party data, we are not liable for any decisions you make in reliance on the information displayed.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The most current version is always available on the App’s Terms of Service page, and the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
